Honfleur & Calvados Tasting Tour
Originally founded by the Vikings in the early 10th century and located on the southern bank of the mouth of the Seine River, is the beautiful town of Honfleur.
Unfortunately, today nothing remains of the town’s viking past today. However, its narrow cobbled streets are lined with architecture from the middles ages up to the present day. Today, these buildings house an array of boutiques, gifts shops and restaurants.
Honfleur is also noted for its art galleries and was the home town of impressionist painter Eugène Boudin (1824-1898). A museum dedicated to him, which is home to many of his works and those of his contemporary’s is to be found in the town today. In the afternoon the tour moves to the back country of Honfleur, the Pays d’Auge. Here we will visit a domaine for a guided tour exploring how the local spirit Calvados is made.. Followed by a tasting not only of the Calvados but local ciders and the Norman aperitif Pommeau. The final stop of the tour is the charming village of Beuvron-en-Auge. With its traditional porte bois houses and shops this picturesque village is officially recognised as being one the most beautiful in France.
